3rd Bi-Annual Blood Drive

The 3rd Bi-Annual Blood Drive in honor of my dad's memory will be Sunday, November 1st. Here's what you can do to help! If you live close by you can come and donate blood with all of us (you can email me or post a comment for additional info if you didn't get it already). If you do not live close by, you can still participate and show your support for an incredible man whose legacy we have to pass down to our children. All you have to do is find a place where you can donate and then email me or post a comment on this blog or his blog. For the 2nd drive back in March in honor of his 53rd birthday we attempted to raise at least 53 pints of blood. We succeeded and raised 57. We are looking to exceed our last goal. The important thing about my dad was that he always gave of himself for others and we are looking to honor his memory and carry on his tradition of giving blood every 8 weeks. Ironically, he had some special anti-body in his blood that was perfect for blood for babies and the elderly. This motivated him to give every 8 weeks to save a life. We should take this lesson from him and give of ourselves. It only takes an hour out of your day! If you are unable to donate blood for a variety of reasons, find someone you know who can and encourage them to donate blood for this occasion. If you can't find someone to donate blood, you can carry on other legacies of his: say hello and how are you to a stranger and mean it, buy a homeless person lunch, carry on a conversation with someone in an elevator, make someone feel better about themselves, make someone laugh with a joke (especially a dirty one!), and think about someone else besides yourself for a day. These, and many more, were traits of my dad. It's hard to believe we have carried on for a little over a year without him in our lives. But his generosity for other people is a legacy worth continuing. Please help us and honor him by donating blood and saving a life.
